First Quarter Blitz Sets Up Comfortable Win Over Navy

First Quarter Blitz Sets Up Comfortable Win Over Navy

We returned to the court for our second outing of the 2026 Accra Basketball League season with a point to prove.

After the disappointment of our cancelled game against Nungua Coldstore, we needed a strong response. Against Navy, that response came early, loudly and decisively.

An Electric Opening Quarter

Our starting five of Treasure Botchway, Elvis “Arrow” Siaw, Benjamin Omari, Godfred Bawa and Benjamin “Big Shooter” Ashitei took to the court with clear intent.

By the end of the first quarter, we had built a commanding 31-3 lead. It was not just an attacking display. It was also a defensive statement. The ball moved well, the shots dropped, and Navy struggled to find any rhythm against our pressure.

To say they were overwhelmed would be putting it mildly.

Smooth Sailing to Victory

The intensity of the first quarter was always going to be difficult to sustain for the full game, but the early damage had already shaped the contest.

From the opening tip, our Nobles controlled the rhythm and never gave Navy a real way back into the game.

Vice Captain Benjamin Omari admitted in his post-game interview that we lost a bit of focus after the explosive start, but he also kept the bigger picture in view: get the win, learn from the performance, and keep improving as the season develops.

Benjamin Omari is in serious form.

Omari Stays Hot

Last season’s MVP and our Vice Captain earned Player of the Game honours for the second match in a row, finishing with 14 points, 10 rebounds and 3 steals.

It was another all-round performance from a player who continues to lead with production, presence and control.

What Comes Next

The win over Navy gives us a strong platform heading into a demanding run of fixtures.

Next up is a major test against Braves of GRA, last season’s playoff semi-finalists. After that, we face TUSK Foundation in a reboot of last year’s final. The season is still young, but the message is already clear.

Our Nobles are moving.
